Retirement Benchmark Tracker

This pre-formatted spreadsheet will help you stay on track to the comfortable retirement you deserve.

It will calculate the projected size of your portfolio at retirement given how much you plan to save and invest over your investment horizon.  It also calculates your projected monthly income in retirement.  Then, it helps you determine if you're on track and how much bigger your retirement will be if you're ahead of schedule.  

Start by populating the input cells with some basic information.

A preformatted amortization table will populate based on the demographics entered in the input fields.  The output fields provide projections on how much money you'll accumulate and the amount of dividend income you'll earn in retirement.  

If you don't like the results, adjust the values in the input fields until you have a plan the fits your needs. 

Then, track your portfolio balance each month.  Know instantly how much you should have at the end of each month and whether or not you've met your benchmark.    

This next part is really cool.  The spreadsheet also calculates a moving balance.  

If you're overfunded, how much more can you expect at retirement given the amount of time remaining and your projected ROR?

If you're underfunded, how much less can you expect?

This shows you the benefit of compounding when you're ahead of schedule.   

Finally, how much more do you need to accumulate between today and your retirement date?  This might be a unsettling number to look at when you first get started, but it's what you're working towards.  With time, regular contributions, and a sensible investment strategy, the gap will progressively grow smaller.
